When does a claimant need the support of a claimant representative to document disability with the Social Security Administration?

There is no agreement among claimants, claimant representatives, or NOSSCR about the answer to this question except to note that there is absolute agreement that a claimant should not proceed into Step 3 without the assistance of a claimant representative.

Aside from this consensus, a claimant should follow his or her own preferences about when to enlist assistance.
